44 Highland Rd. is a private residence.

Elisse Binder has graciously volunteered her house because the Barn is not available.

There is on street parking – Please be considerate of the neighbors and observe the parking rules.

Elise has a large playroom with a beautiful wood floor. – Please bring clean, non-street shoes for dancing.

Seating is limited. Folding chairs are welcome.

Chart Guthrie will be calling the Dance.

Chart loves to call lively dances that flow well and need minimal instruction. 

His calling gets everyone up dancing having a great time.

The band will be Fairchild and Becherer

Maria Fairchild (banjo) and Adam Becherer (fiddle) met at the Eastern Long Island Old Time Jam, and they also participate in the Grafton Street Open Irish Sessions.

Maria has been playing for LITMA contradances since the early days at the Neighborhood House in Setauket. In Portland, Oregon, she was in Cat’s Cradle with Sue Songer, author of The Portland Collection, the “bible” of contradance tunes. She also plays with Dance All Night and Fiddlers Green and has led banjo workshops for the Long Island Bluegrass Festival and the New England NOMAD Folk Festival. 

Adam has been playing old time and Irish fiddle on and off for the past 30 years. He was exposed to bluegrass and old-time music at an early age while watching his father’s band compete at bluegrass festivals at South Street Seaport in New York City in the 1970’s. He currently plays with Buddy Merriam and Back Roads. His fiddle style has been influenced by Martin Hayes, Kevin Burke, Bruce Molsky, and others

LITMA will take a break from Dancing in December.

The next LITMA Contradance will be Sunday, January 21 back at the Brush Barn in Smithtown.

Chart has been calling contradances for over 30 years and running the Smithtown Dance for even longer. Chart likes to call fun dances that flow nicely. His clear teaching style gets everyone up dancing right away

Dance All Night features Larry Moser on Accordion and Hammered Dulcimer, Mary Nagin on Fiddle, Jack Dillon on Fiddle, Maria Fairchild on Banjo & Guitar and multi-instrumentalist Max Rowland on Banjo, Accordion, Concertina, spoons and who knows what else!

In Suffolk County, New York, community level of COVID 19 as of October 11, 2022, is Medium.

The CDC Guidance for Medium community level is:

LITMA will monitor the COVID Community Level and adjust our policy as necessary

For Medium Community Level the LITMA Smithtown Dance Policy is as follows:
1) Proof of Vaccination not required.
2) Masks encouraged, but not required. (Masks required if Community level moves up to High)
3) LITMA will have masks and hand sanitizer available and encourage their use.
4) if you have symptoms STAY HOME.
