Members of the LITMA Contra Band run an open remote Celtic jam Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday 5:30 – 7:00 PM. You can arrive late, leave early, etc as you like.
We use Sonobus, the best free on-line jamming platform we’ve tried; download from Sonobus.net, join private group LITMA (all caps). We can all hear each other in real time (give or take a few milliseconds).
Notation for all tunes via website (link provided when you join), or you can play by ear/memory.
To stay in touch, you can join the LITMA and Friends Remote Jam group on FaceBook Messenger. Or message me if any questions.
First-Time Setup:
(1) You will need broadband internet service, usually this means cable or fiber (eg, FIOS).
(2) Your computer needs to be connected (with Ethernet cable) to your router or cable modem; WiFi will lead only to frustration.
(3) Install Sonobus on your computer from www.sonobus.net
Regular use:
(1) Run Sonobus
(2) Connect to the private group LITMA (case-sensitive: not “Litma”, not “litma”, etc).
Optional Video via the link in Sonobus – don’t worry, we’ll talk you through it.
If you’re not sure your setup works, please try to arrange a time with me beforehand to test.
Please let me know if you’d like help, or of any questions or suggestions.
Please let me know if I should add you to the group e-mail list.
